Surrey Training Group Meeting – September 2019
Yesterday, we held our second last Surrey Training Group meeting of the year. Welcoming new and existing members once again to our Training Centre in Farnham. The morning began with our usual networking breakfast.
The meeting then began with Toni Gray, Group Training Officer sharing recent industry news. She then also, gave a brief overview of the agenda of the meeting for all members.
Mental Well being & Resilience in the Workplace
Our guest speaker Karen Woodward, from the British Red Cross, then gave a presentation about ‘Mental Well being & Resilience in the Workplace’. She spoke about how we can make a positive difference in the workplace by implementing the ‘CALMER framework’. This framework has been developed by the Red Cross’ psycho-social team and aims to support individuals during and after an emotionally challenging situation. During the presentation Karen got the members to take part in group exercises to highlight certain aspects of the framework.
After the coffee break, Darren Lawrence from CITB then went on to discuss and offered guidance on manual grant claims. He also informed members of upcoming CITB events and encouraged members and training providers to attend.
Overall, the meeting was extremely successful. We saw a variety of companies collaborating together to offer advice and guidance on the important subjects.
