Surrey Training Group Meeting – December 2022

On Thursday 8^th of December, we held our last Surrey Training Group meeting of the year. Welcoming our members to our CISTC Training Centre at Natta Head Office, the morning began with our usual networking breakfast.

Sharron Hampson, Group Training Officer for the Surrey Training Group, started the meeting by giving an introduction on the agenda for the meeting, along with all the latest Surrey Training Group news and updates. She also covered some interesting industry news, which included CSCS card applications and funding for training.

Building a Mental Health Charter & Becoming a Company Supporter – The Lighthouse Club

Our guest speaker Lorraine Shepherd, Regional Ambassador of the Lighthouse club, then gave a presentation on Building a Mental Health Charter & Becoming a Company Supporter. Lorraine gave an introduction about the charity along with the Club’s performance and key achievements over the past year. She also spoke about the support they offer within the Construction Community, Education and Training in particular health and wellbeing training, and the Help Inside the Hard Hat campaign which aims to get people talking about poor mental health within the construction industry and the importance of letting people know how they can reach out.

After the coffee break, there was a short presentation by Ash Khan updating us on all CITB news and updates. This was then followed by a talk from Natalie Sprake of CITB on apprenticeships.

The meeting concluded with a Christmas raffle and general Q&A for all members of the Group. Overall, the meeting was very successful and saw a variety of companies collaborating together to offer advice and guidance on these important issues.
