Natta Group opens new CISTC Training Centre and Wellbeing Facility

On Friday 16th June, the Natta Group opened the doors to its new CISTC Training Centre and Wellbeing Facility at their premises in Crondall, Farnham. The new building was opened by multi-marathon runner Steve Edwards, the Deputy Mayor of Farnham – Councillor Attfield and Natta Group MD and Surrey Training Group Founder, John Whelan. The Natta Group then continued their celebrations by hosting a Health and Wellness Day in the new centre for its employees.

Cutting the ribbon, Councillor Attfield said, “It is an honour and privilege to come along and open the training facility. From my past experience, it is so encouraging to see the construction industry supporting training initiatives. Also very nice to see Natta Group providing Health and Wellbeing facilities for their staff. Thank you as well, for giving back to our community, by your continued support of the Brightwells Gostrey Centre in Farnham.”

Acclaimed multi-marathon runner Steve Edwards commented, “Great to see a company putting something back by providing a facility that will bring benefit for many people for many years to come. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to be part of your official opening and wellness day.”

About the new CISTC Training Centre and Wellbeing Facility

The new building is a 2 storey 6,000 ft² training and development centre for the CISTC (Construction Industry Safety Training Centre). The ground floor houses a new canteen and toilets to service the Surrey Training Group members, CISTC course delegates and Natta Group staff. The first floor consists of new office space for CISTC and four brand new large state-of-the-art training rooms. The centre will be used by CISTC and will also facilitate the training of Natta’s Master Groundworker NVQ Courses; an apprenticeship programme that Natta have collaborated on with Guildford College of Technology, which launches this September.

The new development embodies the Group’s sustainable construction ethos and values. It is a zero carbon building constructed using structural insulated panels and utilising renewable energy sources and energy efficient products. The building is heated by a 200KW wood chip biomass boiler and a 46KW PV array provides electricity. The double height training rooms are fitted with acoustic baffling. This reduces reverberation whilst maintaining the feel of light and space that the rooms will provide for the delegates. As safety is also at the forefront of the Group’s business, the latest wireless technology was utilised within the build.

The Surrey Training Group were delighted to welcome member Newspan Building Solutions on the day. They assisted Natta Building with the steel frame element of the build. Coming to the opening, they were able to see first hand the fruits of their labours. As well as how the new building will benefit the members and facilitate their training needs if they require it.

On Friday 9th June at the Houses of Parliament, the new Facility won ‘National Gold Winner for Energy Efficiency’ at the 2017 Green Apple awards.
