Surrey Training Group Meeting – December 2018

Today we held the last training group meeting of 2018. We will be announcing our new meeting dates in the New Year.

We welcomed existing and new members to our Training Centre; the morning started as usual with a networking breakfast. The meeting then began with Toni Gray, Group Training Officer sharing recent industry news. Toni then also, gave a brief overview of the agenda of the meeting for all members.

An Introduction to Risk Assessment

Our guest speaker ‘Martin Somerfield’, from The Croner Group gave a presentation discussing, ‘An introduction to Risk Assessment’. He spoke through several areas and concluded with asking members to work together on a group exercise, noting any risks from mock situations. One example discussed was a garden party.

The meeting then concluded with a group discussion, where Toni asked members to provide feedback about the Training Group to make sure members are ultimately benefiting from the service the group provides. Before the meeting closed a Christmas raffle was held, where six winners took home a lovely bottle of wine each.

Overall, the meeting was extremely successful and saw a variety of companies collaborating together to discuss potential risks in the workplace and ways to prevent them.
