Surrey Training Group Meeting – September 2025

On Thursday 25th September, we held our latest Surrey Training Group meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams. This was the first meeting with our new GTO Cezara Dan, It was a pleasure to welcome our members back.

The meeting began with group business, giving the attendees the opportunity to network and reconnect. We shared the latest updates from Surrey Training Group.

CITB Updates

Stephen, Aluko and Karen from Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) provided the group with an important update on grants and funding, including changes coming into effect from September 2025. CITB work with local training providers. The aim is to simplify the way companies get support and funding to access the training you need.

‘How are you?’ Workforce Wellbeing Programme

Ale Ezquerro Nassar and Sabina Stanescu from Surrey County Council shared information about their Workforce Wellbeing Programme. We learnt that in Surrey, 74.5% of those employed, aged 16-64 live with a physical or mental long-term condition. Their programme focuses on the six pillars of wellbeing, and how they support staff across construction and beyond.

Developed in collaboration with industry and wellbeing experts, the programme incorporates the most up-to-date evidence and is designed for straightforward implementation. They offer support throughout the programme, and ensure that businesses receive comprehensive guidance. During the session, the team outlined how members can join the programme and highlighted the potential benefits for their organisations.

To conclude the meeting, Cezara opened the floor to any questions, allowing attendees to find out more information and connect with one another.

Reflecting on the meeting, Cezara said: “The recent meeting went very well, and it was a great opportunity for me to meet most of the group members. Everyone had a chance to catch up and learn about the latest updates in the industry. I am already looking forward to the next meeting!“
